Linda Babcock

LINDA BABCOCK is the James M. Walton Professor in Economics at Carnegie Mellon University and the coauthor of The No Club: Putting a Stop to Women’s Dead-End Work, with Lise Vesterlund, Laurie Weingart, and Brenda Peyser.  Babcock is a behavioral economist focused on understanding barriers to women’s advancement in the workplace and developing evidence-based interventions to promote a level playing field. She is the founder and director of the Program for Research and Outreach on Gender Equity in Society (PROGRESS), which pursues positive social change for women and girls through education, partnerships, and research. She is also the author of Ask for It and Women Don’t Ask.
