DR. NINA AHMAD is the president of the PA chapter of the National Organization for Women (NOW) and former Philadelphia Chapter President, and former National NOW Board member. She fights to protect reproductive freedom, to end sexual harassment, and to level the playing field for marginalized communities, advocating for living wage, working conditions, and a fair and just work environment for those in low wage jobs. Dr. Ahmad serves as the Health Committee Chair of the Philadelphia branch of the NAACP and is committed to ending racial health disparities and creating an inclusive culture of healthy people and communities. Dr. Ahmad received a PhD in chemistry from the University of Pennsylvania; Molecular Genetics Postdoctoral Fellowship at Thomas Jefferson University; patent holder of “Methods of detecting a Genetic Predisposition for Osteoarthritis”; joint Assistant Professorship at Wills Eye Hospital and the Ophthalmology Department of Jefferson Medical College and subsequent Directorship of Molecular Biology of the Research Department at Wills Eye Hospital.
