Dr. Namita Ahuja
DR. NAMITA AHUJA is the senior medical director of Medicare and Geriatric Programs with UPMC Heal Plan. Previously, she was a clinical instructor at the University of Tennessee. She served as medical director of various assisted living facilities and long term care facilities, before completing her geriatric fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in 2006 and then joined the geriatrics faculty of the University of Pittsburgh. In 2006, she served as associate medical director at UPMC Heritage Place and then was appointed as medical director from 2007 until 2015. In 2012, Ahuja accepted the role of medical director of the UPMC for Life Options program and subsequently in 2016, accepted her current role, where she has implemented many post-acute related initiatives and is responsible for approximately 140,000 members. As part of UPMC Health Plan’s focus to aging and health, Ahuja works to develop and promote programs encouraging healthy lifestyle in the Medicare population by offering no cost gym memberships or alternative at home programs. Ahuja earned her MD from the Seth G.S. Medical College & King Edward Hospital, Bombay, India in 1995. She completed an Internal Medicine Residency at Methodist Healthcare University in 2000, where she served as chief resident during her final year. @upmchealthplan
