Dr. Laura Bessen
Dr. Laura Bessen is currently head of U.S. medical at Bristol-Myers Squibb, responsible for all marketed and prelaunch products. During her 15 year career in the pharmaceutical industry, she has successfully launched six new chemical entities, including the three leading HIV / AIDS drugs globally. Throughout her career in industry, and as a practicing physician, she has always been passionate about keeping patients at the center of her work. After her medical training, she became physician-in-charge for the AIDS Clinical Trial Unit at Beth Israel Medical Center where she carried out both industry and NIH sponsored clinical trials. Bessen is a board member of the Vagelos Life Sciences and Management Program at the University of Pennsylvania. Bessen earned an M.D. degree from New York University School of Medicine, completed her clinical training in internal medicine at Mount Sinai Medical Center and completed her fellowship in Infectious Diseases at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. @bmsnews
