Jenny Bowen
Jenny Bowen is an advocate for the world’s forgotten children. She is the founder and CEO of Half the Sky, an international NGO founded in 1998 in order to better the lives of orphaned and abandoned children living in China’s state-run welfare institutions, and is now, through Half the Sky’s Fledgling Project, introducing these life-changing programs in other countries. Bowen is the author of the memoir, “Wish You Happy Forever: What China’s Orphans Taught Me About Moving Mountains” (Harper Collins, 2014). A former screenwriter and independent filmmaker, she is a recipient of the Skoll Award for Social Entrepreneurship, the Purpose Prize and the American Chamber of Commerce’s “Women of Influence” Entrepreneur of the Year award. Bowen serves on China’s National Committee for Orphans and Disabled Children and on the Consultative Committee of Experts for Beijing Normal University’s Philanthropy Research Institute. @jennybowenhts
